The road Jessica Whittaker traveled to earn a Certificate in Professional Truck Driver Training had a couple of detours enroute to becoming the first graduate in SCC’s Prison Education Program in December 2024.
Taking a gap year between high school and college helped Levi Chandler figure out his future. He explored his options, ultimately enrolling in Southeast Community College’s Energy Generation Operations program.
Kaylin Smith always knew she wanted to help people. As a student at Sterling High School she enrolled in SCC’s SENCAP program which played a pivotal role towards pursuing a career in the health science field.
SCC will graduate approximately 600 students during the Fall Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The graduation ceremony is an all-college ceremony and includes students from the Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses.
If you have been to a Husker football or volleyball game, you have more than likely connected with Trevor Nebesniak, Powersports Technology program chair. He plays guitar and sings back-up for the Killigans and their rendition of “The Cornhusker” is played to pump up the crowd.

Looking back on this journey, I'm truly grateful for all of the experiences SCC has provided me. I remember stepping into college as a shy, anxious student who was solely focused on getting good grades. However, SCC has allowed me to gain new experiences and meet new people all while challenging myself. This has helped me blossom into a more confident version of myself. I have SCC to thank for helping me grow as a person while still being true to myself.
