News & Media Relations

The Marketing & Communications Office serves as the official liaison between SCC and the media. Our role is to invite media coverage of SCC events and accomplishments, including the use of SCC-written press releases and pitching stories to the media. We also arrange and make available SCC administrative, faculty and staff experts to the media. All of our releases are posted on SCC's public website and distributed to media within our 15-county service area. We also write "hometown" press releases that highlight the accomplishments of our students. Graduation and Dean's List releases are sent to the student's hometown newspaper upon the student's request.

Not sure if your event qualifies for a press release? A press release is a short, compelling news story written by our staff and sent to targeted members of the media. The goal of a press release is to pique the interest of a journalist or publication. The press release should contain all the essential information (who? what? where? when? how? and most importantly why?) for the journalist to easily produce his/her own story.
