Our Powersports Technology program will help you master the skills needed to diagnose and repair a variety of recreational vehicles. Through hands-on training, you'll learn to fix engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems and more on motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. Our real-world approach includes working on customer vehicles and using industry-standard tools. Whether you want to specialize in one type of powersports repair or become an all-around powersport service technician, this program prepares you for exciting careers in dealerships, independent repair shops and powersports service centers.

PROGRAM GOALS


Master Vehicle Systems and Components

Develop comprehensive knowledge of powersports machines, industry standards, and the specialized equipment needed to service motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs. You'll learn to test, repair, and maintain essential systems including electrical components, chassis, brakes, tires, wheels, and steering mechanisms.


Develop Engine Expertise

Gain hands-on experience rebuilding both two-cycle and four-cycle engines. You'll master engine performance diagnostics and repair techniques through practical lab work on real powersports vehicles, preparing you to tackle complex engine issues in the field.


Excel in Advanced System Repair

Learn specialized skills in disassembling engines, performing precision machining and servicing complex fuel and ignition systems. This advanced knowledge will help you diagnose and fix performance issues that others might miss.

WHY SCC?

Who teaches the Powersports Technology courses?


Our instructors have industry experience in servicing and selling high-performance vehicles. Many have competed at high levels in various powersports competitions, bringing their knowledge of building winning machines into the classroom. With our small class sizes, you'll get personalized attention based on your interests.

How is the program structured?


We combine classroom learning with hands-on experience in our repair shop, where you'll work on actual customer vehicles that need real repairs—not just practice scenarios. This real-world approach helps you build confidence and makes the transition to employment after graduation much smoother.

Are there work opportunities while I'm studying?


Our program offers an optional cooperative experience where you can earn money while learning directly from industry professionals. These paid opportunities often lead to job offers after graduation.

What certifications can I earn through this program?


You are eligible to test for Yamaha Training and Certification, Polaris Master Service Dealer (MSD) Certification, and Suzuki Bronze Technician Certification—all valuable credentials that employers look for when hiring.

 

CAREER OUTCOMES

Powersports Service Technician

Powersports service technician diagnose, repair and maintain motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. You'll work on engines, electrical systems, transmissions, and chassis components in dealerships or independent repair shops.

Marine Service Technician

Marine service technicians specialize in the repair and maintenance of boats and personal watercraft. You'll troubleshoot and fix engines, electrical systems, and mechanical components for boats used in Nebraska's lakes and rivers.

Small Engine Repair Specialist

Small engine repair specialists focus on diagnosing and repairing a variety of smaller powersports and outdoor power equipment. In Nebraska, these specialists work on everything from motorcycles and ATVs to lawnmowers and generators.
