Stark is new SENCAP Senior Director
For the past month, Dr. Brian Stark has been settling in to his new position as the senior director of the Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership and Dual Credit Advantage at Southeast Community College.
“I’m relationship-building with all the participating school districts and how we can increase support of each other to benefit student success,” he said.
SENCAP offers several pathways for juniors and seniors in high school to earn college credits for half the cost. It’s also a way to explore different career opportunities while getting hands-on experiences. Currently there are 47 school districts within SCC’s 15-county service area taking advantage of the program.
“My goals are growth and expansion among the participating school districts, as well as expanding the pathways,” Stark added.
Current pathways are Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock, Business, Culinary, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services, Construction, Energy, Geographic Information Systems, Welding, Information Technology, and Health.
Stark is taking over for Dr. Randy Nelson, who retired in 2020.
A native of Watertown, Wisconsin, Stark received his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, his master’s in Curriculum and Education from Doane University in Crete, and his Ed.D. in Education and Leadership from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha.
Most recently he served as Dean of Math, Science and Applied Programs at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas. He’s active in community organizations such as 4-H, FFA, and his local homeowners association. He and his spouse have one child.
Stark’s office is located on the fourth floor of the Jack J. Huck Continuing Education Center in Lincoln. He can be reached at 402-323-3425 or bstark@southeast.edu
