“You can expect to get hands-on experience when you visit SCC. On campus there are more opportunities to test out your interest in a program or career field you might not have known about before,” said Jenna Schueman, admissions administrative assistant. “Our instructors are excited about their programs and the activities they put together, even if its just a day off school it is an activity that is engaging and fun, you get to see campus and see things you might not get to on a regular basis.”

SCC offers several ways to explore our campuses, each designed to give you a different perspective on career training and campus life. Whether you’re just starting your search or ready to explore a specific program, choose one of these options that best fits your needs.

• Campus Visit

One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with SCC is to pay one of our campuses a visit. Each campus—Beatrice, Lincoln, and Milford—hosts prospective students daily.

During your visit, you’ll explore any programs you’re interested in and meet faculty from those programs. You will also learn about our campus resources and the services we provide to ensure your success while at SCC, including a meeting with Admissions and Financial Aid staff.

• Discovery Days

Discovery Days provide a more in-depth experience at SCC. You’ll receive information about programs of study at SCC, financial assistance, student housing, and more while meeting other prospective students during a campus tour and provided lunch. Each campus hosts a limited number of Discovery Day events each semester, check our website for availability.

• Explore It Days

If hands-on experience is what you’re looking for, Explore It Days has you covered. You’ll get to learn from our faculty and industry partners right alongside SCC students.

Each campus hosts program-specific Explore It Days, giving you a firsthand look at career opportunities in each industry. There are events specific to agriculture, healthcare, construction and several other career fields across our three campuses.

Malachi Knapp, a sophomore at York High School, attended the Technology Explore It Day on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and was able to use plasma cutters, solder small components, and rotate tires while exploring different career areas.

“I feel like it helped me see what I like and what I don’t like, when I’m not entirely sure right now,” Knapp said. “I didn’t expect to like the automotive electronics as much as I did, but it felt much easier than the other stuff.”

• Meet Our Counselors
