Honoring a legacy: Ann & Ted Pardy Endowed Scholarship
Ann Pardy’s life was defined by a steadfast dedication to education, service, and uplifting those around her. Her legacy now lives on through the Ann & Ted Pardy Endowed Scholarship at Southeast Community College, established by her husband, Dr. Ted (Rosevelt) Pardy, to support future generations of Nebraska students.
Ann and Ted both grew up in Middletown, New York, where they shared early years and life milestones before marrying in 1962. Ann earned her degree in education from Elmira College for Women and began her career teaching fourth grade, fostering a love of learning that stayed with her throughout her life.
Their journey took them across the country, from Arizona to California and eventually to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Ted built a distinguished career as a biology professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Ann, too, built deep roots in Lincoln. For 20 years, she worked as a legal assistant for a blind attorney, quietly demonstrating dedication and compassion. Beyond her professional life, she gave generously of her time and spirit to community organizations, including Lincoln Literacy and advocacy efforts for older adults.
For Ann, service was not just a role, it was a way of life. She was a constant source of support and encouragement, both in her family and her community. Her kindness extended far beyond everyday acts; she was an advocate, a volunteer, and a friend who brought light to those around her.
Ted established this endowed fund to honor their shared belief in the power of education and community connection. The scholarship will provide flexible, ongoing support to Southeast Community College, ensuring students have access to opportunities that can transform their lives, just as education shaped Ann and Ted’s own journey.
The Ann and Ted Pardy Endowed Scholarship is more than a gift. It is a tribute to a life lived with purpose and generosity, and a way to keep Ann’s spirit alive in the classrooms and communities she cared so deeply about.
