New Director of Title IX and Institutional Compliance
Lincoln attorney Robert Sanford is the new Administrative Director of Title IX and Institutional Compliance at Southeast Community College. In this position, Sanford will provide advice and technical assistance, as well as training and investigative activities to develop and implement the College’s compliance with laws/rules/regulations/policies related to access, equity and diversity.
Sanford was previously the legal director for the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence for the past 16 years. He hopes he can use his background to help the College provide that sense of safety that allows students to focus on education.
“Over the years I have been involved in policymaking efforts around Title IX and anti-violence work,” he explained. “This position allows me to help implement these policies and regulations in a way that helps individuals understand discrimination, harassment and violence so that they can make better choices. It also gives me an opportunity to work with the College to better support those victimized by others.”
A native of Arnold, Sanford graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1997 from the University of Nebraska College of Law. He also worked for the Legal Aid Society of Omaha, the Nebraska Appleseed Center and in private practice.
When he’s not working, he enjoys photography as a hobby. He photographs many of the local races in Lincoln and Omaha, in addition to wildlife photography.
