Celebrate Earth Day at SCC's Family Science Night

Southeast Community College will host Family Science Night in conjunction with Earth Day on Monday, April 22. The event is free and will be held at The Career Academy Synergy Space on the Lincoln Campus at 8800 O Street from 5:30-8 p.m. Family Science Night will be hosted by SCC science faculty, STEM Club, STEAM Team and other campus volunteers.

“Science faculty and students are excited to welcome our guest to the Lincoln Campus on Monday evening,” said Misty Wehling, Biotechnology Program co-chair and Biology instructor at SCC. “We are looking forward to interacting with the kids who attend as they enjoy the many activities.”

There will be activities for elementary aged children to learn about science. These include:

  • Geology table with bug fossils
  • Telescope
  • Live Snakes
  • Gummy Bear Rockets
  • Physics of Juggling
  • Penny Water Surface Tension
  • Sonic Reflexes
  • Robots
  • Solar System Model
  • Earth Day Bird Feeder
  • Mini Lava Lamps
  • Science of Popcorn
  • Nanoscience Activities

The evening includes free pizza and prizes. The Sweet Treats Food Truck and Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck will also be selling food and drinks. Under 100 tickets are available; get your free tickets online
