Eli Brown Named Men's Soccer Coach

Lincoln native Eli Brown is the new men’s soccer coach at Southeast Community College. A 2019 graduate of Lincoln East, Brown served as team captain his senior year and led the Spartans to a state tournament appearance. A midfielder, he went on to play for Bellevue University and was on Bruin teams that qualified for two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championships. He graduated in 2023 with a business degree and earned Academic All-Conference honors for the Association of Independent Institutions in 2019 and 2020 and was a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete in 2020.

Brown has extensive coaching experience at the club level for the Villarreal Nebraska Academy in Lincoln, as an assistant at Lincoln East in 2022 and as a volunteer assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2023. His under-19 team at Villarreal won the 2023 State Championship, and the Spartans advanced to the state semifinals in 2022 and an overall record of 15-4.

“I’m very excited to join this community and continue building a program that has been growing year after year,” Brown said.

He likes players who work their hardest when no one is looking and are able to make intelligent, proactive decisions on the pitch. This will enable the Bobcats to control every phase of a soccer match, Brown said. He is licensed through the United Soccer Coaches with an Advanced National Diploma and through the Villarreal CF Coach Development Program. He is working on his C license through U.S. Soccer. He spent several weeks in Spain recruiting players, coaching teams and developing his coaching skills.

The Bobcat men’s soccer team played its first season in 2020 and were 8-3-4 in 2023, winning their first National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX regular season title and advancing to post-season play. The team, which plays its home matches on the SCC Beatrice Campus, begins its 2024 season in August.
