SCC Announces Humanities, Mass Media Scholarships Beginning This Fall
Full- or part-time students at Southeast Community College interested in studying broadcasting, journalism or the humanities now have scholarships available to help offset the cost of tuition.
Beginning with the Fall Quarter, SCC's Humanities/Mass Media Scholarships will provide a $250 tuition waiver to successful applicants. To be eligible, students must be full-time or part-time at SCC and must enroll in the class in the quarter in which the scholarship is awarded. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on the topic of career goals to Jay Stalder, Beatrice Campus instructor, at jstalder@southeast.edu. In order to be considered for future awards, applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point average.
Application dates are Aug. 1-22 for the Fall Quarter, which begins Oct. 5. High school seniors may apply from Dec. 1, 2009, through Feb. 22, 2010.
Some additional stipulations regarding the scholarship:
The scholarship will not be applied if the class is dropped within the first 10 days of the class. After the 10th day, the scholarship will have to be repaid if the class is dropped or a grade of "I" or "U" is received.
To apply, students should go online to the scholarship page at http://www.southeast.edu/admissions/fin_scholarships.asp. Look for the link in the left hand column.
For a list of courses in which the scholarship will cover, go to SCC's 2009-2010 College Catalog at www.southeast.edu, click on Academics, then Class Schedules and Catalogs. The current catalog is located in the right-hand column.
