SCC Students Now Able to Receive Refunds Faster

Students attending Southeast Community College are now able to receive refunds faster, safer and more efficiently, thanks to a partnership between SCC and Union Bank & Trust.

SCC is implementing a new system to automate student refunds. Through Web Advisor, the link on the College's Web site that allows students to, among other things, view their account, make payments, view financial aid information, register for classes and view grades, students can register online to speed refund payments electronically and directly to their current checking or savings account.

If a student does not have a bank account, SCC has partnered with Union Bank & Trust to offer students a free checking or savings account within the refund system.

It's easy to sign up. Students simply log in to Web Advisor on SCC's homepage (www.southeast.edu) and click on the FAST Refund Enrollment link under Financial Information. This will take students to the refund system where they can select to receive their deposit automatically through direct deposit, or open a free account with Union Bank & Trust. Then, enter the information required and click submit.

Ted Suhr, vice president for administrative services at SCC, recommends students register for the refund for a variety of reasons.

"It's fast, it's safe, and it's efficient," Suhr said. "And the nice thing about it is if a student doesn't have a checking or savings account, Union Bank & Trust will create one for them at no charge."

Persons needing more information about the electronic refund process, or a specific refund, should contact Union Bank & Trust's call center at (402) 323-1777 or toll-free 800-297-2837.
